Sidmouth’s centre of creativity right in the heart of the town.

Located just off Sidmouth’s Regency sea front in the heart of the shopping centre, Libra Court offers an oasis of both artistic creativity and aesthetic tranquillity. This sheltered, award winning courtyard is definitely a secret to discover when visiting the town, one which will in no way disappoint. Seven unique studios and galleries including the renowned Coffee Shop and Restaurant, Selley’s, are to be found here. Libra Court enables the visitor to revel in local creative talent and take home a truly original gift, something that will not be found on the High Street. Whilst here, the visitor can relax in the open air or inside to enjoy possibly the best coffee, lunch or cream tea in the town. Looking forward to seeing you here soon.

altIf you, like many people, find that the average High Street in the UK is looking surprisingly similar, if you are bored of seeing the same range of goods and designer labels in most shopping centres, then Libra Court is definitely the place for you. Here you will find total originality and a plethora of creativity. From ceramics to paintings, hand-made clothes to materials, all are here for you to discover. Five studios of creativity, each one run by an individual; a person who believes in offering the public something just a little different. So much to take in, so much to browse and all in the wonderful backdrop of a  relaxed courtyard environment over which drifts the smell of fresh coffee from our Restaurant and Coffee Shop, known as Selley's.

Entering Libra Court is what one imagines it must have been like when walking into the secret garden. An overgrown entrance pergola covered in Russian Vine leads to an old rustic door that opens into a fully enclosed walled courtyard which is literally ablaze with colour. Honeysuckle, clematis, passion flower, variegated ivys, evergreens of all varieties, provide a beautiful display and give a wonderful contrast to the backdrop of the mellow brick walls that surround the courtyard. In the summer season beautifully stocked hanging baskets give extra colour to this charming courtyard whilst the Dartmoor granite water garden trickles away, completing this tranquil scene.

Finding Libra Court should be no problem. We are situated just 50 metres from the sea front, between Fore Street and York Street. We have two entrances; a passageway from Fore Street next to Fat Face, opposite the HSBC bank and another in York Street, behind the Royal York Hotel, adjacent to the Ham car park.
